Gain the skills & understanding to own & deploy a firearm for personal defense.
A firearm won’t make you safer—not unless you know how to use it safely, legally, and effectively.
Tactically, there are significant differences between target shooting and using a firearm as a defensive instrument. Our training courses provide the skills and know-how to make you confidently capable of using a handgun or long gun as a defensive instrument in your personal security toolbox.

We give you the skills to use it responsibly.
This introductory course will provide an entry-level understanding of firearm safety, gun handling, and marksmanship, as well as a working knowledge of fundamental firearm ballistics, proper gun selection, and safe ownership.
There are significant differences between target shooting and using a handgun as a defensive instrument. With this course, you will gain the skills and know-how to make you confidently capable of using a firearm as another defensive tool to add to your personal security toolbox.
IN THIS COURSE, YOU WILL LEARN:
Firearm Selection & Safety.
The 3 critical criteria for selecting the right defensive handgun and the 4 critical safety rules and how to apply them on and off the range.
Defensive Shooting.
The 4 fundamentals of defensive firearm usage that enable you to use a handgun deliberately, accurately, and under duress.
Stopping Power.
The 4 ways of stopping an aggressor. The relationship between firearm caliber and stopping power, and how it pertains to selecting the right firearm for personal protection.

To some, the right to carry is a privilege. To others, it’s a responsibility.
Deploying your gun from a concealed carry—under duress—is never easy, always dangerous, and requires the right training to execute properly.
Building upon the lessons taught in DHG-1: Handgun Handling & Safety, DHG-2 defines the basic holster types, their purposes, and the criteria you should use when selecting the proper holster. You will also rapidly develop the ability to carry a concealed firearm, and most importantly, the ability to effectively draw from a holster in a defensive situation.
This course will also exponentially enhance and expand your defensive shooting skills; explore multiple target engagement strategies including extreme close quarters and longer ranges; and teach you how to clear jams and malfunctions, different types of reloading techniques, and the basics of movement (e.g. getting off the “X”) in a gunfight.
IN THIS COURSE, YOU WILL ALSO LEARN:
Holsters & Concealment Concepts.
How to select a suitable holster for your particular needs, including alternate concealment options with advice on non-traditional concealment.
Justification of Force.
The legal considerations of firearms usage will be discussed, including a basic understanding of the justification of force laws.
Defensive Carry & Law Enforcement.
Restrictions on concealed carry and how to manage interactions with law enforcement.

Good Guys get shot more often than Bad Guys, and it’s not just because the Bad Guys shoot first.
Mostly it’s a function of training. All too often, lawful gun owners practice from a stationary position on a conventional firing line. This does not allow for movement, alternate positions, or practicing the use of cover.
Shooters rarely understand the dynamics associated with foreground and background – innocent bystanders who may be in front of or behind the Bad Guy, all of whom will likely be in motion – that are relevant in any defensive engagement. In fact, most firearms training courses only pay lip service to this critical facet, doing little to combat the tunnel vision and target-fixation that occur almost universally in high stakes situations.
This course specifically addresses these dimensions. By systematically training both the mind and the body – through live fire drills and simulations that force you to manage foreground and background elements, often involving moving 3-dimensional target arrays – your body learns how to move and shoot while your mind gets conditioned to truly perceive what’s happening around you.
IN THIS COURSE, YOU WILL ALSO LEARN:
Use of Cover.
The distinction between cover and concealment. We will use rigging to simulate numerous cover/concealment scenarios that you could adapt in a defensive engagement—cover such as furniture, automobiles, and walls.
Aftermath.
Preparation and protocols. What you need to expect physically, psychologically, and emotionally following a deadly force encounter, and how to protect yourself before, during, and after the incident.

It’s your home. Now make it your castle.
By introducing uncertainty into your training, the Urban Tactics course is unlike anything you have experienced in the series thus far, teaching you how to progress your skills from the open environment of the range, to realistically managing doorways, walls, and common urban obstacles.
As a private citizen, you are most likely going to be on your own, possibly with loved ones to protect. As such, team-based “room clearing” tactics – as taught to law enforcement and military personnel – are often inappropriate or impossible to achieve on your own.
This advanced course teaches you how to apply the fundamentals of defensive handgun use in close quarters and urban environments, both from a stationary vantage and when you are left with no alternative but to move.
To accomplish these goals, we use a combination of training environments, presenting situations where you won’t know from where the Bad Guys will be coming, how many of them will be present, or what conditions lie around the corner.
IN THIS COURSE, YOU WILL LEARN:
How to make your home into your fortress by using familiarity to create a home field advantage. We will discuss strategies for home deployment and rapid response when the creaks and groans are more than just the wind outside.
Extreme Stress Response. How to manage the negative effects of adrenaline including: tunnel vision, loss of motor coordination, and auditory exclusion.

The rules change at night, but not the reasons.
It is estimated that 80% of all defensive shootings occur at night or in low light conditions. Whether you are disrupted while enjoying an evening out or you have been awakened at home by a crash downstairs, you must be prepared to manage a situation that will require you to fight back and deploy a firearm under restricted visibility.
In addition to training you to operate comfortably under low light conditions, this graduate level course teaches you how to deploy and use a handheld flashlight as an accessory to your handgun, using it as an impact weapon or control tool as necessary.
IN THIS COURSE, YOU WILL LEARN:
Old tactics made new. It’s like starting over again once the lights go out. Re-learn and practice old skills under impaired conditions.
How to manipulate light to your best advantage. Whether you are maximizing the limited light available or dominating with your own handheld, make light your ally.
How to select and mount a light. The market is full of light sources, attachable and handheld. Get the best information on tools for your application.
